Hibearnate was the result of a number of bad decisions throughout the 4 founders time at Imperial College London where we were completing our MEng at the Dyson School of Design Engineering. It all started in 2023 when, as part of an innovation module (coined Innovation & Entrepreneurship - I&E), the group built out a search and rescue drone concept which sought to find missing hikers across vast mountains - a big problem in an underfunded public sector. The research was promising and the maths behind it was feasible but other work, funding and the potential military ‘search and destroy’ applications led to the venture remaining just a university project.
